SHEKEL UPDATE:
Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan 5759
Our Sages teach that in Y'mei Mashiach (the Messianic days)
every day will be like Purim. Those days are upon us. As a
result of the restoration of the custom of giving the Holy
Half-Shekel, we find ourselves occupied with the Mitzvah
(Commandment) all year long. One month after Purim comes the
first Trumat HaLishka ceremony, followed two months later by the
second, and four months later the third and final ceremony is
performed. As soon as we finish, we begin all over again, with
the production and distribution of next year's coins.
We are pleased to announce that production has begun of the year
51 coins. The dies are completed, the first specimens struck,
and we are now accepting orders. The First Strike Proof
Specimens and the first 1,000 coins will be ready for delivery in
January. Two hundred regular Half-Shekels have already been
sold, the reaining 800 will go on a first come - first served
basis. Last year, the entire first minting was sold in 48 hours.
We will immediately go into a second and third minting as the
orders come in.

And there is even more exciting news! We have held two meetings
to establish contact with the relevant authorities to begin the
process by which every soldier in Zahal will be presented with a
Half-Shekel each year. The meetings were very positive, and here
is a preview of what each year's army version will look like. |

Keep in mind that this is only a tease. You can not purchase
these coins for money. Only through service in Zahal, the Israel
Defense Forces, can it be obtained. And good luck trying to get
a soldier to give it up!

U.S. Trip, December 1998/January 1999
We are closing our itinerary for the upcoming winter tour to
the US (Dec. 1 - Jan. 27). If you want to have me speak for your
community, please e-mail us immediately. States included in this
tour are; California, Oregon, Washington, (maybe) Colorado,
(maybe) Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, ALABAMA!, New
York, and Massachusetts. If you are in any of these states, or
within a five hour drive of any of the cities we'll be visiting
during this tour, we would be happy to include you.
Moked Hekdesh (Hekdesh Center)
We have found the perfect location for the Moked Hekdesh
(Hekdesh Center) in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Located
in the Cardo, the two thousand year old main thoroughfare of
ancient Jerusalem, restored after the six day war. It is
currently unoccupied and available for immediate use. We are
checking into the landlord's requirements, and we believe that
it will run about $500-$600 monthly for rent, plus municipal
taxes. An unbelievable bargain. We have also located a Levite
who lives in the Jewish Quarter who has volunteered to take
responsibility for overseeing the running of the center.
Having the Moked Hekdesh in the Jewish Quarter will allow us to
perfom the Trummat HaLishka ceremonies in the vicinity of the
Temple.
By establishing the Moked Hekdesh, we will have laid the
foundation for the re-establishment of the Lishka, the central
treasury for the Temple. It will grow naturally out of the small
location we open now, as the function of the center grows to meet
the needs of an ever increasing income of Half-Shekels, as more
and more segments of the people join in contributing the Holy
Half-Shekel, annually.
Less than ten thousand dollars to establish the proto-treasury
of the Third Temple. Who will claim the honor?
Good Purim! Great Purim!
